First Christian has been host to many events the last 150 years. From Ham and Bean Dinners, Spaghetti Dinners, Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals, Easter and Christmas Cantata's to Easter Egg Hunts, Ice Cream Socials with the Historical Society, Bridal and Baby Showers. We sheltered and fed a group of bicyclists (Bike and Build) crossing the United States and doing community service such as Habitat for Humanity . We've hosted Jacksonville/Cairo Christian Church Youth as they held a Homeless Rally, collecting food, clothes and cash to help those in need. Our latest group activity is the book study of "Who Broke My Church?". We, like so many other churches, are struggling with declining attendance and aging membership. We believe that there is still a need for our service and we are working through this process to see how we can reach out, not only to rebuild our membership but to spread GOD's love in our community and our nation as a whole. Through GOD all things are possible!
